The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana football Association has demoted Ghana premier league side Ashantigold sporting club to the third-tier league after being found guilty of match manipulation after 9 months of investigations.

Ashantigold SC played Inter Allies in the 2020/21 Ghana premier league match day 34 fixture at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium which generated issues of post-match fixing scandals.
The match eventually ended in a 7-0 win for Ashantigold with the post-match footage going viral on social media as people were shocked in a manner in which the goals were scored.

The post match video saw Hashmin Musah, the Inter Allies defender who came into the game as a second-half substitute scoring two own goals. The player later confessed to ‘deliberately putting the ball’ behind his own goalkeeper with intentions of foiling what he suspected was a standing, fixed 5-0 scoreline.
The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana football Association after nine months have released its findings which is set to take effect in the 2022/23 season.

Ashantigold were charged on three counts according to the Committee’s report.
“The Obuasi based club was charged on a breach of article 34 (5)(a) of the Ghana premier league regulations 2019 for instigating, commanding, and counselling its players to play fixed match or match of convinience between Ashantigold SC and Inter Allies FC.

“Also, the Miners were charged for the breach of Article 18(1) of the GFA’s Disciplinary Code (2019), that, there was call from the president of the club and the Chief Executive Officer to one, Emmanuel Nii Armah to assist the club to manipulate the match.

“Ashantigold, was again charged for the breach of Article 34 (6)(d) of the Ghana premier league regulations 2019, that both teams did act together with a common purpose to manipulate the match to achive a desired result, an act which brought the game into disrepute.

The DC concluded on the following sanctions
that at the end of the 2021/22 Ghana premier league season, Ashantigold SC shall be demoted to the Division Two League in accordance with article 6 (3)(h) of the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019.
That, a fine of GHC 100,000.00 is imposed on Ashantigold SC in accordance with article 6(1)(c) and articles 6(4) of the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019.
