Albert Amoah’s hat-trick heroics helped Asante Kotoko secure a thrilling 3-2 win over Medeama SC, keeping their title hopes alive.
Medeama took an early lead with Kingsley Braye’s goal in the 5th minute, but Amoah levelled the score from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute.
He then doubled Kotoko’s tally with a close-range finish in the 41st minute, giving the hosts a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Medeama equalized in the 67th minute through Manuel Mantey’s strike, but Amoah sealed the win with a composed finish in the 78th minute, completing his hat-trick and securing all three points for Kotoko.
Kotoko now sit two points behind league leaders Nations FC, who are embroiled in controversy after abandoning their match against Basake Holy Stars.
Kotoko will face Vision FC on the final day, while Medeama will finish their season against Berekum Chelsea.
The win keeps Kotoko’s title hopes alive, but they’ll need to win their final match and rely on Nations FC dropping points to stand a chance. Gold Stars, who defeated Berekum Chelsea 3-2, are also in contention, sitting level on points with Nations FC.
Let’s see how the final day unfolds!
