Aduana FC has eliminated defending champions Asante Kotoko from the MTN FA Cup, winning 4-2 on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time .
Kotoko had an early chance to take control, but Samba O’Neil missed a crucial penalty, which seemed to shift the momentum in Aduana’s favor.
The match was marked by controversy, with Aduana appealing for a penalty that was not awarded.
However, the Dormaa-based side maintained their composure and held their nerve in the shootout, converting four of their kicks to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
Aduana FC will now face Techiman Liberty in the quarterfinal stage, while Kotoko’s exit puts pressure on head coach Karim Zito.
The FA Cup was Kotoko’s best chance at silverware this season, and they’re currently eight points behind Medeama SC in the Ghana Premier League.
